WHAT is Derma roller?
A derma roller, also known as a microneedle roller, is a skincare tool that consists of a small handheld device with a roller head covered in tiny needles. The needles are typically made of stainless steel or titanium and range in length from 0.25 mm to 2.5 mm.
WHY do Derma roller / Micro-needling?
The purpose of using a derma roller is to create tiny micro-injuries in the skin, which stimulates the body's natural healing process and promotes the production of collagen and elastin fibers. This can help to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, scars, and stretch marks, and can also increase the absorption of skincare products.
PROCESS at Enhance Aesthetic Hub
Derma rolling, also known as microneedling, is a skin care technique that involves rolling a small device with tiny needles across the surface of the skin. This process can help to stimulate collagen production, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin texture, and reduce the appearance of scars.
Here are the steps we follow to use a derma roller:
- Cleanse your skin: Start by thoroughly washing your face with a gentle cleanser and patting it dry with a clean towel.
- Disinfect the derma roller: To prevent infection, it is important to disinfect your derma roller before using it. It can also be done by soaking it in alcohol for 5-10 minutes.
- Apply a numbing cream (optional): If we have to use a longer needle length derma roller, we may want to apply a numbing cream to reduce any discomfort.
- Roll the derma roller over your skin: Starting at the forehead, roll the derma roller gently over your skin in horizontal, vertical, and diagonal directions. Make sure to use light pressure and avoid rolling over the same area more than once or twice.
- Apply a serum: After we finished rolling, we apply a serum or other skincare product to your skin. The tiny channels created by the derma roller can help your skin to better absorb these products.
- Clean and disinfect the derma roller: After using the derma roller, we clean it with warm water and mild soap, then soak it in alcohol again for 5-10 minutes to disinfect it. Store it in a clean, dry place until your next use.
- Repeat regularly: For best results, use of the derma roller once or twice a week, depending on patient skin's sensitivity and the length of the needles on your derma roller.
BENEFITS
Here are some potential benefits of using a derma roller:
- Improved collagen production: The tiny needles on a derma roller create micro-injuries in the skin, which stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, two proteins that help to keep skin firm and elastic.
- Reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles: By stimulating collagen production, derma rollers may help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as other signs of aging.
- Improved skin texture and tone: Derma rollers can help to improve the texture and tone of the skin by promoting cell turnover and increasing blood flow to the skin.
- Reduced scarring and hyperpigmentation: Derma rollers can be used to reduce the appearance of scars and hyperpigmentation by breaking down scar tissue and promoting the growth of new, healthy skin cells.
- Increased absorption of skincare products: The tiny punctures created by the needles on a derma roller can help skincare products to penetrate deeper into the skin, making them more effective.
It is important to note that while derma rollers can be beneficial for some people, they may not be suitable for everyone. People with certain skin conditions, such as acne or rosacea, should avoid using derma rollers, as they can cause further irritation. Additionally, it is important to use a derma roller correctly and to maintain proper hygiene to avoid infection or other skin problems.
